Specialised Programmes and Local Broadcasters

Broadcasting stations cannot always offer programmes, which are equally interesting to all listeners or viewers. It is therefore useful to also offer programmes for an audience with special interests.

These groups include youth, women or rural communities. Their concerns can be addressed in specialised programmes. Here, certain topics can be presented in greater detail. This also ties the target audience more strongly to the broadcaster.

Local radio and television stations play an important role in many countries. Because they are closer to their listeners or viewers, they can have a significant share in the democratisation process. The DWFZ supports these stations through specialised training for editors and senior staff at local stations.
