Expertise and background knowledge

January 11, 2006

In order to inform people quickly and extensively, journalists need know-how in relevant areas, in addition to sound general knowledge.

The DWFZ therefore offers seminars and workshops to relate expertise in selected topics. At the same time, participants can fine-tune their practical journalistic skills.

In workshops on business journalism, for example, participants learn about stock markets and banks, international concerns and economic concepts. Seminars about consumer protection, ecology and globalisation also deal with equally complex contexts. In our peace journalism workshop, we examine how conflicts develop and how journalists and the media should behave adequately during such conflicts.
