The Body as Enemy – When Anorexia Rules Life
Eating disorders have long been not only a medical, but also a problem of society. A current study by the Robert Koch Institute claims that 30 percent of all 17 year-old girls in Germany have eating disorders. Whether it’s bulimia, anorexia or obesity, these disorders are a great burden on the lives of sufferers and their families. Most don’t want to talk about their problems - still less in front of a television camera. But 26-year-old Henriette and her mother want to break the silence and describe their eight year struggle against anorexia. A year ago, the student, who is 1 meter 66 centimeters tall, weighed only 40 kilos. Therapy changed her life.
