Merry Christmas – Code of Honor for Father Christmas
Every Christmas Eve in Berlin, 500 Santas are busy taking gifts to 5,000 children. The Father Christmases are students doing temporary work. In years gone by, they’ve performed their job in many different ways, according to their temperament and habits. So this year the Santas have agreed to a code of honor: They must not drink alcohol, curse, make telephone calls or smoke in public. They need to know some Christmas poems, stories and songs. They should be properly costumed and radiate benevolence and harmony. And they must not try to discipline the children - even if the parents ask them to.
