Children in Search of a Better Life

Each year, thousands of people -- including children -- attempt to flee to foreign countries in search of a better life. But it's not easy, safe or legal.

Reports show that thousands of illegal African immigrants drown each year, while trying to attempt journeys in rickety boats and dangerous days-long journey across the ocean. All were in search of the "promised land", a better future and a place to fulfill their dreams.

In recent years, the European Union and African governments have been trying to stop or at least reduce the influx of illegal immigrants. The borders are being guarded more closely than ever, and laws have been tightened. But still, thousands of Africans try to reach Europe every year -- and there are also many children among them. We travel to the Moroccan port of Tangiers in North Africa to find out more.
