Tomorrow Today

In the next edition of Tomorrow Today:

What will happen to worldwide efforts to boost climate protection once the Kyoto protocol expires in 2012? In December 2008, UN representatives will be gathering in the Polish town of Poznan to ponder precisely this question. Reason enough for the Tomorrow Today team to dedicate an entire program to climate change and address the following issues:

What do researchers have up their sleeves to stop or at least slow down climate change? One example is "Oscar". Oscar isn't just a normal car. Instead of gas it runs on electricity. Engineers in Darmstadt developed this electrically-powered car and want to see it mass-

produced by the year 2020. Another ambitious project is a power plant near Berlin

expected to provide green power to the grid in just a few years time and emit hardly any

carbon dioxide. Also, the focus is on the scientists of tomorrow. We visited the Karla-Raveh school in Lemgo, in northern Germany, and asked them about their vision of environmental-friendly housing. Their ideas are sphere-shaped, and design models are already being made.

All that in this special edition of Tomorrow Today!
