Brilliant Minds talks to the French Geomorphologist Hugues Lantuit

In the "Brilliant Minds" series on Tomorrow Today, we introduce young, up-and-coming scientists from all over the world who have come to Germany to live and do research. Because 2008 at is UNESCO's Year of the Earth, the coming reports will be addressing geo-research.

When Hugues Lantuit wants to make an impression, the charming Frenchman enjoys presenting himself as a polar researcher. He says he enjoys the admiring looks he gets. The geomorphologist works at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Potsdam. His work focuses on the erosion of coastlines in the Arctic and on the effect climate change is having on the speed with which this is happening. Tomorrow Today talks to Hugues Lantuit about his experiences exploring the icy north and his plans for the future.
