International Coproduction

Großansicht des Bildes mit der Bildunterschrift:

Worldwide media cooperation is our business. We produce high-quality radio features and reports with radio broadcasters from around the world. This contributes to helping our foreign colleagues journalistically.

Our coproduction projects focus on fostering the journalistic cooperation in developing and former Eastern Block countries.

We establish teams with journalists on-location, who then create features for radio – often with the most varying production conditions. The entire workflow is planned and executed mutually. That means that research and interviews are conducted jointly, and that the team works together to edit sound bites, write manuscripts and produce the feature in the studio – at least, as well as possible with the existing language barriers.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has supported DW’s international coproduction projects financially and logistically since 1979.

Depending on the areas of focus, DW also works closely with political associations dealing with development like the GTZ in Germany as well as working with national and international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).

DW’s international coproduction editorial department is a member of the German Social Improvement Network, which works with national and international partners in the areas of community development, social work, drug prevention, education, cooperatives and small loans.

But every coproduction comes to life due to the commitment of the partner stations. Working in studios with colleagues in host countries keeps opening the door to new perspectives and modes of operation.
